Priority for Romania domestically must remain stability of economic climate (Acting President Bolojan)

Acting President Ilie Bolojan sent a message on Wednesday on the occasion of the seventh edition of the „Women in Economy” Gala, in which he stated that a priority for Romania domestically must remain the stability of the economic climate.

„The year 2024 was, par excellence, the year of global elections, and the domestic and international dynamics will continue to produce effects. Romania is going through a period marked by unexpected events, which, if improperly managed, can generate negative consequences in the long term. In my capacity as interim president, I convey to you my determination and dedication to keep the country on a pro-European and Euro-Atlantic path. At the same time, let us remember entrepreneurial thinking, which teaches us that any crisis also brings opportunities that can be capitalized on with the right approach. In this context, a priority for Romania domestically must remain the stability of the economic climate, and the successful implementation of projects financed from European funds, along with attracting investments and a constructive dialogue between the private sector and public institutions, remain essential for ensuring the level of economic security that we we all want”, says Ilie Bolojan in the message sent by Dragos Anastasiu, honorary advisor to the interim president of Romania for relations with the business milieu – Department of Economic and Social Policies, during the event organized at the Romanian Athenaeum.

In the message, the interim president states that female entrepreneurship is not only an economic opportunity, but also a factor of particular importance in the development of a balanced and innovative society.

„By assuming the role of leaders in various fields of activity, women contribute, with elegance, to the promotion of sustainable business models. A confirmation of these aspects is the support received from the European Parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which encourages the international dimension of Romanian entrepreneurship and the creation of new possibilities”, says Bolojan.

He urges reconsideration and reevaluation of the female presence in both the business environment and in leadership positions, whether in the private or public sector.

„Recent studies highlight that the presence of women in leadership positions and their involvement in entrepreneurship can bring notable economic benefits, especially in the long term. Companies in which at least 30% of the top management team members are women can record financial performances up to 48% better than those in which women are underrepresented or absent at the management level. Regarding female entrepreneurship in Romania, data shows that approximately 25% of active companies are owned exclusively by women. Although these companies have, on average, lower turnover than those owned by men, companies with 100% women shareholding have an average net profit rate of 15%, almost double that of companies with male shareholding, which is 8.3%. I invite you, therefore, to do the calculations accordingly and encourage the involvement of women at all levels of management. decision”, Bolojan points out.

He advocates for the involvement of entrepreneurs in general and women entrepreneurs, in particular, in politics.

„Too often in politics we see group photos in which women are poorly represented and I am convinced that if we correct this negative report, our country would only have to gain. Romanian politics, and not only, needs the empathy and care specific to women. So I invite you to get involved with the characteristic determination and to stop waiting for men to invite you or make room for you. We are approaching International Women’s Day, which celebrates their essential role in any society. I wish you, dear ladies, ‘Many Happy Returns!’ and I urge you all to recognize this role, which covers every aspect of our lives”, says the interim president.
