National leader of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Kelemen Hunor said on Tuesday that the decision of the Constitutional Court in the case of Calin Georgescu was expected, adding that there were numerous arguments for not allowing him to run in this May presidential election.
„Tuesday’s decision of the Constitutional Court of Romania was expected. Although it is always better to defeat anti-Hungarian extremism through elections, in the case of Calin Georgescu there were many arguments for not being allowed to run in the presidential election this May. He is a person who represents a fascist ideology, conspires to overthrow the constitutional order and promises a bleak future for all, endangering both the country and the Hungarian community,” Kelemen wrote in a social media post.
In his opinion, people’s dissatisfaction is justified: they expect change and change is needed.
According to him, UDMR supports a candidate who „promises social peace and respect for the communities.”
„The only better news than this is that the Ukrainians have accepted the American plan for peace negotiations, and the truce paves the way for a lasting peace. Now, all parties are waiting for the Russians’ response,” added Kelemen.
