Interim President Bolojan, ahead of European Council meeting: We need a competitive economy

Published on

Interim President Ilie Bolojan on Thursday, ahead of the European Council meeting, said that a competitive economy is needed.

He pointed out that the European Council will discuss two topics: one related to competitiveness and the other related to European defence.

„We need a competitive economy to offer prosperity to European citizens, to create better jobs for people and to ensure future development. Some topics that will be discussed include simplification, administrative facilities so that the burden on companies is much lower than it is today. Another important topic is energy, so that there is cheaper energy for families and businesses, as well as a unification of capital markets so that both the loans companies take and the financial investments made by individuals are more advantageous for them. On the defence side, which is linked to the competitive economy, discussions will cover Ukraine, the development of the European defence industry so that, apart from increasing defence spending, there is a favourable economic effect through the development of European defence conglomerates to create new jobs in European economies and to advance research and technology. The Middle East will also be discussed,” said Bolojan, ahead of the European Council meeting.

On Thursday morning, Interim President Ilie Bolojan participated in the EPP summit.
