Kazakhstan is a key partner in Central Asia – a global gateway by definition, which has the potential to become an important transit route between Asia and Europe, Romania’s Energy Minister Virgil Popescu wrote in a Facebook post, according to Agerpres.

„These days I am in Kazakhstan, together with Marius Budai, the minister of labour and social protection, and several other colleagues from the government, to participate in the 16th session of the Romanian-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission on commercial, economic, technical and scientific cooperation, of which I am co-chair together with my counterpart Bolat Akchulakov. Romania and the Republic of Kazakhstan have a history of over 30 years of diplomatic ties. Kazakhstan is a key partner in Central Asia – a global gateway by definition, which has the potential to become an important transit route between Asia and Europe.”

On Thursday, he had a working meeting with Almassadam Satkaliev, the chairman of CN Samruk-Kazyna Holding, which includes oil and gas, transport and logistics, as well as chemical and nuclear companies, from metals, energy to the real estate sector.

„We discussed future possibilities of strengthening bilateral and commercial relations, of investment in energy, but also in the chemical, pharmaceutical, plastic industries; electronics and electrical engineering; agriculture and the food industry.”
