Daniel Funeriu, candidate in the presidential elections, said Wednesday evening that he is a convinced „Atlanticist” and that if he is elected president in 30 days Romanians will know the truth about the annulment of the elections.
In his opinion, the relationship between the United States of America and Europe is a fundamental one and every effort must be made to ensure that it is not lost.
„I am a convinced Atlanticist. I believe that the relationship between the United States and Europe is a fundamental relationship for which we must make every effort not to lose. (…) I believe that Romania must and can be a link in this transatlantic relationship. (…) I believe that the dialogue with the Trump administration must be re-established. I promise that, if I am elected president of Romania, in 30 days all Romanians will know the truth about the annulment of these elections,” Funeriu told private broadcaster Antena 3 on Wednesday.
According to him, if it is proved that the former candidate Calin Georgescu is the representative of foreign interests, he must pay in accordance with the law, and otherwise those who annulled the elections „must pay”.
„There are only two possibilities. One – either Georgescu is the representative of foreign interests and then he has to pay in accordance to the law, or if it is not the case those who annulled the elections have to pay. There is no third way. I do not believe that a strong link with the new Trump administration can be made outside the truth,” said Daniel Funeriu.
