Adrian Vasilescu: Never before have so many crises come together, such as energy crisis, the clutter of prices

Never before have as many crises gathered together as there are now, and the most serious and important are the energy crisis and the clutter of prices, Adrian Vasilescu, strategy consultant at the National Bank of Romania, said on Friday, at the XVth edition of the Perspectives in Banking and Financial Law int’l conference, according to Agerpres.

„Today are special times in many ways. But anyway, the worst and most important are the energy crisis and the clutter of the prices, which are linked. And a central bank, such as the National Bank of Romania, is placed in this triangle, choosing its attributions very well and according to the law,” Adrian Vasilescu said.

„The governing board of the National Bank of Romania does nothing of its own. It does absolutely everything according to the law. And the law is a very interesting institution in Romania because it has an interesting history. Even a tumultuous history,” Adrian Vasilescu assessed.

He stressed the importance of the existence of a Faculty of Law, such as the one within the Academy of Economic Studies (ASE) of Bucharest, to be concentrated on the business law.

„This is a very important thing. I remember that 30 years ago, when business was beginning to get shape in Romania, many important judges in the system of courts had no idea about the problems of business, although at the Faculty of Law there was always a bent towards economics. But what was I doing? In the first year capitalist political economy, in the second year the socialist political economy, in the third year accounting, in the fourth year financial law and with that it ended. Very little. So, I repeat, it is very good that there is such a faculty,” Adrian Vasilescu concluded.
