Romania-Hungary cross-border project of strategic importance, worth more than EUR 10 million, to be launched in April

A cross-border project of strategic importance, worth more than EUR 10 million, will be launched on April 7, in Baile Felix, by the project leader, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Romania (IGSU) and representatives of its partners from ISU Bihor, ISU Satu Mare and Hungary.

According to a press release of ISU Bihor, the project with the acronym TERES – Timely and efficient response in case of emergency situations in cross border area – aims to strengthen cross-border intervention in emergency situations and interoperability between Romania and Hungary through joint training, the development of infrastructure and a common operational framework for natural and climate change-related disasters, thus improving preparedness and operational efficiency in the cross-border area of the program.

The overall objective of the project is to improve the safety and protection of the population in the eligible area by strengthening adaptation to climate change and disaster risk prevention, by establishing cross-border disaster intervention centers, developing modern training facilities, strengthening institutional capacity and capabilities for joint interventions of institutions responsible for emergency management.

The TERES project has four partners: the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Romania, project leader, the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) „Crisana” of Bihor County, the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) „Somes” of Satu Mare County and the Disaster Management Directorate of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County of Hungary.

The total value of the project is EUR 10,903,255.52 of which the EU contribution amounting to EUR 7,210,668.50 financed under the Interreg VI-A Romania-Hungary Programme

The project implementation period is 36 months, from December 23, 2024 to December 22, 2027.

The opening conference of the TERES project of strategic importance will take place on April 7 at the President Hotel in Baile Felix. The official launch event will be attended by representatives of national authorities from Romania and Hungary, county and local authorities and public institutions, and will present details on the objectives, activities, stages of implementation and expected results.
