ITU 2022/ Internet of Things can lead to cities & communities’ intelligent, sustainable development

Published on

The discussions and in-depth deliberations have characterized the meetings, in recent days, within the Conference of Plenipotentiaries of the International Telecommunication Union (PP-22) in Bucharest, and among the new resolutions revised and adopted was the one on the implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT), so that cities and communities become smart and sustainable, according to Agerpres.

As far as IoT is concerned, the specialists from the delegations present in Bucharest are of the opinion that it will allow billions of devices to connect with each other, to collect data in real time and to send it, by communication without wire, to the centralized control systems.

„IoT systems can be used, for example, to improve energy efficiency and waste management, to improve homes and health care, to optimize traffic flow and safety, to monitor air quality and much more. Information and communication technologies, such as IoT, can help accelerate the achievement of all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 11, which aims to create sustainable cities and communities (…) Recent developments in the Internet of Things (IoT) – the network of devices connected in rapid growth with embedded sensors and software – are leading to the intelligent and sustainable development of cities and communities around the world,” organizers inform.
