Independent candidate in the presidential election Nicusor Dan said on Thursday that, if he wins the second round of voting, he „very much” wants the current interim president, Ilie Bolojan, to serve as prime minister.
„Fortunately, the president will nominate the prime minister. We’ve passed a stage, Mr. Ciolacu is no longer at Victoria Palace. I want a government composed of the four pro-Western parties plus the national minorities. I want this government to be led by someone who has proven they can implement reform, meaning cut costs, someone who has shown they have a development vision. I very much want… it’s no surprise… Mr. Bolojan, but I don’t want to promise something that isn’t exclusively my decision,” said Nicusor Dan during the televised electoral debate organised by Euronews Romania.
He said that, if he becomes president, he will hold consultations with the parliamentary parties to appoint the head of the Executive.
„Immediately, assuming the Romanian people vote for me, right after taking office I will call the four pro-Western parties and the national minorities to discussions and I will appoint a prime minister who can lead Romania into a culture of law, a culture of work, a culture of prosperity,” said Nicusor Dan.
