Independent presidential candidate Nicusor Dan on Sunday stated that he will fight for a Romania in which Roma children have the same chances as any other child in this country.
„I thank the Roma for Democracy Foundation for the invitation and the opportunity to express my support for the Roma community and for the effort that the institutions of Romania and all of us must make to ensure the safety and prosperity of minorities in our country. Regarding the questions asked, as president of Romania I commit to: protect the most vulnerable in the Romanian society, especially in the face of hatred, violence and the use of minorities as scapegoats, ensure equal treatment before the law and not tolerate systems that exclude minorities,” stated Nicusor Dan, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Sunday.
The independent presidential candidate said he is also committed to unlocking the economic potential of the Roma community and ensuring that members of this community „are never treated as invisible in the public conversation.”
„As president of Romania, I commit to proposing to the government the inclusion of minority representatives in the act of governance. It is time to break the chain of marginalization and build trust between communities. I will fight for a Romania in which Roma children have the same chances as any other child in this country. The European Romania that I propose is one in which no one is left behind,” said Nicusor Dan.
