At the working meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Coordination of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan this Monday, caretaker Prime Minister Catalin Predoiu stressed the importance of keeping the administrative pace of the implementation of the projects under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and of a seamless inter-institutional collaboration, a release informs.
The meeting was called in light of the fact that a government delegation led by the Ministry of European Investments and Projects (MIPE) will go to Brussels this week for technical talks with representatives of the European Commission.
The NRRP Coordinating Committee looked at the elements that need to be expedited for the full unblocking of Payment request No. 3 and for the implementation of the reforms and investments that will be included in Payment request No. 4, but also at the aspects related to the completion of the NRRP renegotiation stage.
„Regardless of the caretaker status of the current government, continuing efforts to achieve the pledged goals is essential. Act as if nothing has changed in the government’s status – with responsibility, steady pace and institutional coherence. The government belongs to Romania, regardless of its composition. Collaboration between ministries must be impeccable, you must ensure the continuity of operations, ask the personnel to ‘rev up the administrative engines’, so that the future Executive with full powers can take over well-prepared projects and ensure administrative continuity. As far as the dialogue with the European Commission is concerned, it is important to ensure coherence between the ministries and MIPE, honesty and dialogue transparency,” Predoiu said as cited in the press release.
Joint analyses by Romanian officials and EC representatives on the implementation stage of the investments have shown the need to adjust some of them, but also to keep within the deadlines assumed, specifies the cited source.
„In the case of Payment request No. 3, the Commission considered the related targets and milestones to be partially met and approved a partial payment worth 1.3 billion euros. This amount will be transferred to Romania at the end of this month. To date, Romania has collected 9.2 billion euros out of the 28.5 billion euros earmarked for the implementation of the NRRP. Of this allocation, 13.6 billion euros are in the form of grants and 14.9 billion euros are in the form of loans,” the release shows.
Participating in the meeting of the NRRP Inter-ministerial Coordination Committee were Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacsu, Minister of European Investments and Projects Marcel Bolos, Finance Minister Tanczos Barna, Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Development Cseke Attila, Minister of Labor, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity Simona Bucura-Oprescu, Health Minister Alexandru Rafila, Minister of Environment, Waters and Forestry Mircea Fechet, Minister of Economy, Digital Transformation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Bogdan Ivan, Head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery Radu Oprea.
