Three-month ROBOR drops to 7.20pct on Tuesday

The three-month ROBOR index, based on which the cost of consumer loans in lei with variable interest is calculated, fell on Tuesday to 7.20%, from 7.31% a year earlier, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

A similar value of the 3-month ROBOR index was also recorded on January 30, 2023. Early this year, the index was 5.92% per annum but began to increase on May 6, two days after the first round of the presidential elections, when it rose to 6.08% per annum.

The six-month index, used in calculating interest rates on variable-rate lei mortgages, fell to 7.36% on Tuesday, from 7.43% in the previous session, and the 12-month ROBOR to 7.42%, from 7.44%.

As for the consumer credit reference index (IRCC), regulated by GEO 19/2019, it is 5.55% per year, calculated as the arithmetic average of the daily interest rates of interbank transactions in the fourth quarter of 2024, down from the previous quarter’s 5.66%.
