Over 7,000 voters had turned out at the polls abroad by Friday morning at 9:00 AM (Romanian time) to vote in the second round of the presidential election, according to real-time data provided by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP).
According to AEP, since the opening of the polls – Thursday evening at 10:00 PM Romanian time – until Friday morning at 9:00 AM, 7,077 Romanian citizens had voted in person.
Additionally, 3,139 voters cast their ballots by mail, bringing the total number of votes cast abroad so far to 10,216.
The highest numbers of Romanian voters were recorded in: Italy: 985, Germany: 730, Spain: 559, France: 344.

Voting in the diaspora for the presidential election takes place over three days, from Friday to Sunday:
*Friday, May 16, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM (local time);
*Saturday, May 17, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM (local time);
*Sunday, May 18, from 7:00 AM (local time) to 9:00 PM (Romanian time).
At the 965 polling stations set up abroad for this year’s presidential election, Romanian citizens who are abroad on election day can vote, regardless of whether or not they have residence or domicile outside the country.
