The campaign team of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) presidential candidate, George Simion, sent an official request to the Special Telecommunications Service (STS) on Thursday evening, demanding an emergency meeting with the institution’s leadership about „possible electoral fraud”, AUR informs.
The request comes as a result of information appearing in the public space, which indicates that „certain interest groups are preparing actions to defraud the electoral process on May 18. These attempts aim to manipulate the people’s will and may seriously affect the integrity of the presidential elections”, AUR specifies in a press release.
„It is our obligation to act immediately when alarm signals regarding the electoral process appear. We ask the STS leadership for a clear and responsible discussion, in order to guarantee digital security and the fairness of the voting process. The elections on May 18 must be free, fair and free from any suspicion of fraud. We want to have a transparent, democratic and law-abiding electoral process. We will cooperate with all state institutions that have responsibilities in organizing the elections, in order to prevent any attempt to divert the result of the popular vote”, the cited press release reads.
