The American investments in the Romanian economy strengthen the Strategic Partnership with the USA, said interim prime minister Catalin Predoiu, after the meeting he had on Wednesday at the Victoria Palace of Government with representatives of the American company Sig Sauer.

According to a government press release, the talks were a continuation of the dialogue between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the American company, which started last year in the USA, with the aim of initiating investment projects in the Romanian arms industry, leading to the increase of the Romanian arms industry’s production capacity, its modernisation and technological upgrading.

„We want to increase the American economic presence in the Romanian economy, through direct investments and modernisation and technological projects. If they also target the defence industry, so much the better, given the regional and global security context,” Catalin Predoiu was quoted as saying in the press release.
