Interim Prime Minister Catalin Predoiu sent a message Sunday for the Day of Romanians Everywhere, expressing confidence that the soon-to-be-installed government will develop policies that more effectively support Romanians living abroad.
„This day is dedicated to all who carry the Romanian spirit in their hearts, whether at home or abroad. It’s a time to celebrate our shared heritage and reaffirm the government’s commitment to strengthening bonds between Romanians everywhere,” Predoiu said in the message sent by the Government.
He noted the resilience of the Romanian people, the importance of diaspora engagement in elections, and acknowledged their valuable contributions to the countries where they live, acting as a bridge to Romania.
Predoiu stressed that the rights of Romanians abroad must remain a national priority and highlighted areas needing improvement, including: protecting seasonal workers’ rights, speeding up diploma recognition, helping returnees reintegrate into the job market, and expanding access to simplified consular services.
He warned against social fragmentation caused by electoral tensions and foreign propaganda, especially from the East, which seeks to exploit national weaknesses and spread disinformation.
„The government must enhance strategic communication to prevent a rift between Romanians at home and abroad. With wisdom, tolerance, and honest dialogue, we can overcome our challenges and strengthen our nation within the Euro-Atlantic democratic world,” he said.
„Happy Day to all Romanians, wherever you are!,” Predoiu concludes.
