President Klaus Iohannis condemned on Tuesday the attacks with Russian missiles over the cities and civil infrastructures of Ukraine, showing that the analysis doesn’t reveal, at the moment, an increase of risks in Romania, according to Agerpres.
„Yesterday, the Russian missiles struck again cities and civil infrastructures of Ukraine. Such attacks must be condemned by the entire international community, and the killing of innocent civilians must stop. Alongside our partners, Romania will continue to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in the fight against the Russian Federation’s aggression. (…) The Russian missile attacks against the civil infrastructure and civilians of Ukraine are completely unacceptable, I have condemned it and I’m resuming the condemning today. Just as unacceptable is that the territory of an independent and sovereign state [the Republic of Moldova] be used, for example, by flying over it for attacks against Ukraine,” President Iohannis said at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, in the joint statement with Georgian counterpart Salome Zourabichvili.
He stated that „our analysis, however, doesn’t reveal an increase of risks at the moment.”
Moreover, President Klaus Iohannis conveyed, within the talks with his Georgian counterpart, a firm support message for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, within its internationally recognized borders. He brought to mind that Romania is the second main contributor, with experts, to the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia, a mission which has an essential role in monitoring the situation in the areas affected by Russia’s aggression against Georgia in 2008.
In her turn, Georgia’s President condemned the attack with Russian missiles over the cities and infrastructure of Ukraine.
„For us it is unacceptable what is happening there, for us and for the entire world. We have quite a lot of experience with the imperialist politics of Russia, the Soviet Union, and we know what aggression means, and we know what occupation means and we know what Russia can do and this is already the new dimension of aggression,” stated Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, who expressed solidarity with Ukraine.
