President Nicusor Dan says he is not at all satisfied with the anti-corruption process, emphasising that after the formation of the Government and the establishment of measures regarding the budget deficit, justice will become his main focus.
„I am not at all satisfied with the anti-corruption process. There are entire areas of corruption that are being neglected by the Romanian state. And as soon as we finish dealing with the budget deficit and the formation of the Government, the justice system will become my main concern,” Nicusor Dan said on Wednesday, during his first press conference held at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace.
He announced that he would hold discussions with the heads of the prosecutor’s offices.
„Including discussions with the heads of the prosecutor’s offices, including talks about the management plans of the new heads of the prosecutor’s offices, who will begin their mandate at the start of 2026. This concerns the issue of corruption, and obviously, the Romanian state has very, very serious shortcomings in this area,” the head of state said.
Nicusor Dan pointed out that he will have these discussions with the heads of the prosecutor’s offices based on the president’s role as a representative of society.
„Corruption is a major problem in our society, and the president, as a representative of society, can engage in dialogue with any authority in this country,” he said.
