The situation in Covasna and Harghita, counties affected by the meteorological phenomena, remains in the Government’s attention, interim Prime Minister Catalin Predoiu announced on Wednesday, who announced that he will go to the Praid area again in the coming period.
„I thank Ministers Ivan and Fechet, State Secretary Arafat and the Prefect of Harghita County, who coordinates the teams in the field, for managing the situation in Praid, each in their area of competence. I also thank the Prefect of Covasna County for the efforts made alongside the Government to eliminate the effects of the floods in the Borosneu Mare and Băcel areas. The public order forces – gendarmes and police -, a field coordinated by State Secretary Despescu, are deployed in the field for support. I thank them!,” Predoiu said, according to a statement sent to AGERPRES.
He stressed that the situation in Praid is „very difficult”.
„We have mobilized a large number of forces in all fields. We are doing everything humanly possible to help the communities in the area. We have requested that each action in the field be correlated with the opinions of technical experts. In addition to the Romanian experts within the ‘Praid’ inter-ministerial working group, we have also co-opted experts from the European Union, through the European mechanisms for emergency situations, in order to benefit from a second opinion regarding the situation in the field and the necessary solutions. All those involved will remain mobilized including during the Pentecost holiday. I will travel to the area again in the coming days”, declared Catalin Predoiu.
