President Nicusor Dan on Monday met with representatives of the Cartel Alfa, National Trade Union Bloc, CNSLR – Fratia, Meridian and the Confederation of Democratic Trade Unions of Romania (CSDR) trade union confederations.
Cartel Alfa leader Bogdan Hossu stated in the beginning of the meeting that the austerity measures circulated in the press are unacceptable.
„We’ve come to you, on the one hand, and we also protested in front of the Cotroceni Palace, precisely because there are radical measures that may need to be taken and must be taken together with the social partners, and your role as president is that of mediator between the potential members of the future government who are now discussing these matters, and we hope that all of them will become part of the future government, and the social partners. From our perspective – that of the Alfa Cartel, but I think my colleagues also agree -, the austerity measures that have been circulated in the media are unacceptable and we do not agree that bonuses and salaries should be cut like that, on impulse, which will only lead to a fall in purchasing power, which is already eroded by the galloping inflation we are facing,” said Hossu, according to the Presidential Administration.
