Romgaz demonstrates that it is a strong pillar for the Romanian energy market (EnergyMin Burduja)

Romgaz demonstrates that it is a strong pillar for the Romanian energy market, and the company’s projects are attractive and competitive for investors and the economic milieu of Romania, according to the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja.

„Today I was at Caragele, probably the most promising onshore gas field in Romania. Last year, our country became the EU’s no. 1 gas producer, surpassing the Netherlands, and this is thanks to the Romgaz team, who managed to spectacularly increase Romanian gas production. Gas Well 54 Damianca recently began exploration and will go up to 5,100 meters, one of the greatest depths for Romgaz. Exploration aims to identify new hydrocarbon deposits, evaluate the productive potential and geological configuration. Drilling works began in the first part of June 2025 and are progressing according to schedule,” the minister of Energy wrote on Facebook.

He stressed that on Monday he also visited the gas well 55 Damianca, already in operation, one of Romgaz’s best ones, where the time record for production start: 34 days.

„Romgaz demonstrates that it is a strong pillar for the Romanian energy market, and the company’s projects are attractive and competitive for investors and the economic environment of our country. I would like to thank all my colleagues at Romgaz, who demonstrate that they have the vision, courage and determination to make this traditional Romanian company a European leader. The figures speak for themselves: over 11 billion lei of Romgaz investments in the last 5 years. These projects are about the Romania we dream of and that we are building: strong, energy independent, with competitive gas prices, with our heads held high in Europe. Let us never depend on others again. Let others depend on us. And no, we are not selling Romgaz, Hidroelectrica or Nuclearelectrica to anyone. We invest in Romanian companies because they are engines of economic growth and well-being”, pointed out Sebastian Burduja.
