Chair of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Kelemen Hunor said that serious adjustments are needed, a much smaller, leaner state, and fair and just governance.
„We have managed to build a stable majority coalition of over 60%. It is perhaps the most complicated coalition in the last 25 years, but interesting times are coming and we need to find fuel and we need to have reserves to restore citizens’ confidence in the political class. We need serious adjustments, a much smaller, leaner state, and there must be fair and just government. This is the most important thing, and UDMR, in the two ministries where it will propose ministers, will do everything in its power. We will put our experience, seriousness, and predictability at the service of the people, at the service of the citizens,” said Kelemen Hunor after signing the political agreement to form the PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR, and minority group coalition.
He said that difficult and painful decisions are to be expected.
„However, if there is a goal, if there is a purpose, and if it can be shown that things will return to normal, then I am convinced that this government will also have the support of the citizens. And that is important, so we will work towards that in this coalition,” said Kelemen Hunor.
