PSD, PNL, UDMR, and USR parties agreed this weekend on the ministers who will be part of the Bolojan government. Florin-Ionut Barbu (PSD) was nominated as Minister of Agriculture.

Florin-Ionut Barbu was born on September 4, 1980.

He graduated from the Faculty of Economic Sciences, specializing in Marketing, at the University of Craiova in 2003 and completed his master’s degree at the University of Economic Studies in Bucharest in 2007. He obtained a PhD in economics from the University of Craiova, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, in 2015, according to his CV published on https://www.cdep.ro/.

He held the positions of Specialist Inspector (2005-2006), head of the Assessment, Taxation, and Control of Individuals and Legal Entities Service (2006-2007), and Director (2007-2010) within the Revenue Department of the Slatina City Hall, then Economic Director at Slatina City Hall (2010-2014), General Director at the National Agency for Land Improvement (ANIF) (2014-2020) and Director at the OLT-ECO Intercommunity Development Association (2020).

Since December 2020, he has been a member of the Romanian Parliament, representing constituency no. 30 Olt, a member of the Committee on Budget, Finance, and Banks until November 2021, and chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Food Industry, and Specific Services since December 2021, according to the cited source.

On December 20, 2024, he took the oath of office as a member of the new legislature.

Since June 15, 2023, he has held the position of Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, being reconfirmed in the new government formed on December 23, 2024, according to https://gov.ro/.
