The Chamber of Deputies is set to vote on Tuesday on the Social Democratic Party (PSD)’s proposal for Sorin Grindeanu to take over the position of Speaker of this legislative body.

The PSD group requested, during the Standing Bureau meeting of the Chamber held on Monday evening, the initiation of the necessary procedures for electing the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies. The PSD parliamentary group’s nominee is MP Sorin Grindeanu.

Ciprian Serban, who had been presiding over the Chamber of Deputies, submitted his resignation to the Standing Bureau on Monday. He will take on the role of Minister of Transport in the government led by Ilie Bolojan.

The vote will be secret and carried out using ballot papers.

Another item on Tuesday’s agenda will be the appointment of a judge to the Constitutional Court, pending the submission of the report, according to the schedule published on the Chamber of Deputies website.
