Finance Ministry draws additional 60 million lei from banks

Published on

The Ministry of Finance on Tuesday drew an additional 60 million lei from banks, following Monday’s auction, where it borrowed 640 million lei through a benchmark government bond issue with a residual maturity of 34 months, at an average yield of 7.31% per annum.

The nominal value of the supplementary issue was 60 million lei, while banks submitted offers totalling 65 million lei.

The Ministry of Finance (MF) had planned, for June 2025, to borrow 5.1 billion lei from commercial banks, to which an additional 705 million lei may be added through non-competitive tendering sessions related to the bond auctions.

The total amount of 5.805 billion lei is 255 million lei less than the amount planned for May this year, which stood at 6.06 billion lei, and will be used to refinance public debt and finance the state budget deficit.
