Jianu (IMM Romania):Increasing taxes without careful analysis inhibits consumption, has boomerang effect on budget

Increasing taxes without careful analysis inhibits consumption and has a boomerang effect on the budget, which is why prevention must take priority over sanctions, and legislation must be updated to reflect economic and social changes, says Florin Jianu, honorary president of IMM Romania – the National Council of SMEs in Romania.

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, the real problems of entrepreneurs, the importance of social dialogue and collaboration between authorities, employers and trade unions were the main topics of the conference „The importance of social dialogue in relation to the business environment”, held on Wednesday in Brasov.

The event, organised by IMM Romania in partnership with IMM Brasov, brought together representatives of the business community, public administration, employers’ organisations and trade unions.

Discussions focused on topics such as: the need for a predictable legislative framework for entrepreneurs, the importance of public-private partnerships, support for SMEs in the current economic context, and the role of trade unions in maintaining social balance.

„The Prevention Law must be a real tool to support the business environment, not just a formality. In a context where the state urgently needs reforms, including in the administrative field, we must be mindful of the effects of the measures taken. Increasing taxes without careful analysis inhibits consumption and has a boomerang effect on the budget. Therefore, prevention must take priority over sanctions, and legislation must be updated to reflect economic and social changes. Constant dialogue between Parliament, the Government and the business community is the key to sustainable tax reform and a healthy economic environment,” said Florin Jianu.

In her turn, Alina Paul, president of IMM Brasov, emphasised the opportunity to build „solid bridges between entrepreneurs and authorities, and between private initiative and public policy.”

„I am convinced that if we maintain a genuine social dialogue based on mutual respect and commitment, we will achieve reforms that not only correct, but also create opportunities for businesses, communities and generations,” said Alina Paul.
