Three-month ROBOR index down to 7.04% per annum

The three-month ROBOR index, used to calculate the cost of variable-interest consumer loans in lei, fell on Thursday to 7.04% per annum, down from 7.09% in the previous session, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

At the beginning of this year, the index stood at 5.92% per annum but began to rise starting on 6 May, two days after the first round of the presidential election, reaching 6.08% per annum.

The six-month ROBOR index, used to calculate interest rates for variable-interest mortgage loans in lei, dropped to 7.13% per annum from 7.17% on Wednesday, while the 12-month ROBOR index decreased to 7.25% from 7.29%.

As for the reference index for consumer loans (IRCC), regulated by Emergency Ordinance 19/2019, it stands at 5.55% per annum. This figure is calculated as the arithmetic average of daily interbank transaction rates in the first quarter of 2025 and remains similar to the level recorded in the previous quarter.
