Foreign Minister Oana Toiu has said in an interview with AGERPRES that there will be, by the end of this year, some relocations and decisions regarding some of Romania’s ambassadors.
She added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) also has a role, which must be strengthened, in ensuring the strategic coherence of the other ministries when it comes to Romania’s relations with other states, and negotiations at the level of the European Union on various Romanian files.
Referring to secondment within the system, she said she is favouring individual approaches. „Case by case there are conversations, analyses, evaluations so that we can replace where possible with people who arrive by competition, to keep where the secondment made sense in terms of the file or portfolio, the role that the person has. For example, we have several risk areas, where there are secondments from the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” she said.
Thus, by the end of the year, the head of the Romanian diplomacy says, there will be a „functional system” inside MAE.
„We look carefully especially at the secondments from the local administration. There we consider that there is a greater vulnerability,” said Toiu.
