The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a Code Red alert of heatwave, particularly pronounced thermal discomfort, tropical night, for 15 counties and the municipality of Bucharest, valid from Saturday, 10.00 am, until Sunday, 10,00 am.

According to meteorologists, the heatwave will intensify in Banat, Oltenia, most of Muntenia and southern continental Dobrogea, where there will be heatwave and maximum temperatures of 39…43 degrees. Thermal discomfort will be particularly pronounced, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. Thermal minimums will be between 22 and 25 degrees, characterizing a tropical night.

The counties of Timis, Caras Severin, Gorj, Mehedinti, Valcea, Dolj, Arges, Olt, Dambovita, Teleorman, Prahova, Ilfov, Giurgiu, Calarasi and Bucharest municipality are covered by the Code Red warning, in total, and, partially, Constanta county.

Also, 16 counties will be in the mentioned interval under the Code Orange warning of heat wave and accentuated thermal discomfort.
