Border police and mountain rescuers found a hypothermic Ukrainian citizen on Monday night, who crossed the border into Romania through the Maramures Mountains, informs the head of the Baia Mare County Public Mountain Rescue Service, Dan Benga.
„Four hours, that’s how long the search and rescue intervention for the Ukrainian citizen took. The 38-year-old person, in an advanced state of dehydration, physical exhaustion and mild hypothermia, complained of pain in his left knee following a fall he suffered while running after being scared by a wild boar. At the base of the mountain, he was taken over by the relevant authorities, refusing further medical care,” said Dan Benga.
During the same night, six other Ukrainian citizens were recovered by mountain rescuers and handed over to the Romanian authorities.
The extraction operation from the mountain was supported by Border Police crews from the Poienile de sub Munte and Viseu de Sus sectors, located near the Romanian-Ukrainian border.
