President Nicusor Dan announced on Tuesday that he is in contact with the authorities responding to the flood-affected areas in Moldavia to ensure that all those impacted receive the necessary support.
„I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives and the destruction caused in entire communities by the devastating floods in Moldavia. My thoughts are with the grieving families and with all those who were forced to flee their homes in the face of nature’s unforgiving force,” the head of state wrote in a message on Facebook.
He also expressed gratitude to the rescue teams working tirelessly on the ground.
„I am in contact with the authorities involved in managing the emergency response to ensure that the state provides all necessary assistance to those affected. I appreciate the efforts of firefighters, rescuers, and volunteers who continue to act relentlessly in the disaster-stricken areas. I know they are in the field day and night for every family at risk,” the president stated.
In this context, Nicusor Dan emphasized the importance of sustainable investments in prevention and protection against climate-related risks.
„The dramatic events of recent days underscore how crucial sustainable investments are in climate risk prevention and protection. Romania must strengthen not only its rapid emergency response capacity but also its infrastructure for defending against natural disasters, to safeguard lives and the safety of vulnerable communities,” President Nicusor Dan conveyed in his message.
