The National Weather Administration (ANM) has issued new code yellow heat warnings valid on Thursday and Friday in over half of Romania, capital city Bucharest included.
According to meteorologists, on Thursday, between 12:00hrs and 21:00hrs, in Maramures, Crisana, Banat, in most of Transylvania, as well as in west and south Oltenia, there will be particularly high temperatures, locally heat and high thermal discomfort, with the temperature-humidity index (THI) slightly exceeding critical 80. Highs between 33 and 37 degrees Celsius, the highest in the western regions.
Also, on Friday, between 12:00hrs and 21:00hrs, the heat wave will continue to in Maramures, Crisana, Banat, Oltenia, in most of Transylvania, but also in the west, central and south Muntenia, where there will be particularly high temperatures, heat and high thermal discomfort.
The temperature-humidity index (THI) will easily exceed critical 80 in the western and north-western regions and, in isolated cases, in the southern and south-eastern regions. Highs between 33 and 37 degrees Celsius, with the highest values in the western and southwestern regions.
The ANM says that on Saturday, August 16, the heat wave, the particularly high temperatures, the heat wave and the high thermal discomfort will linger on in the west, southwest and locally in the central parts of the country.
