Code Yellow warning for scorching heat in Bucharest, 11 counties on Thursday

The National Meteorological Administration ANM) issued a Code Yellow warning for scorching heat and high thermal discomfort, valid on Thursday, between 12:00 and 21:00, for Banat, the southern parts of Crisana and Oltenia, the south and centre of Muntenia, as well as the south-west of Dobruja.

In these regions, the temperature-humidity index (THI) is expected to locally reach the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will range between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius, with the highest values in south-western regions.

During the night of Thursday to Friday, atmospheric instability is expected in the west and north-west, and on Friday, especially in the northern half of the country.

Friday will also bring heatwave conditions and high thermal discomfort in the south and south-east of the territory.

The Code Yellow warning applies to the Capital and the counties of Arad, Timis, Caras-Severin, Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Calarasi and partially Constanta.
