Scorching heat in Bucharest plus 13 counties, Thursday through Friday

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued new Code Yellow warnings for scorching heat, valid on Thursday and Friday in several areas of Banat, Crisana, Oltenia, Muntenia and Dobruja.

According to meteorologists, during the day on Thursday, between 12:00 and 21:00, heatwave conditions and high thermal discomfort will affect Banat, the southern parts of Crisana and Oltenia, the southern, central and eastern areas of Muntenia, as well as south-western Dobruja. The temperature-humidity index (THI) will locally reach the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will range between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius, with the highest values expected in the south-western regions.

In the second part of Thursday night into Friday, the west and north-west will experience periods of atmospheric instability, which will spread to most regions on Friday.

Additionally, on Friday, between 12:00 and 21:00, the heatwave will persist, with maximum temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius in the southern, central and eastern parts of Muntenia, south-eastern Moldova and south-western Dobruja.
