Romania’s President Nicusor Dan on Sunday, August 24, Ukraine’s Independence Day, delivered a message in which he reiterated Romania’s support for Ukraine’s legitimate effort to defend itself, adding that Romania will also support the reconstruction efforts and the neighbouring state’s path towards European integration.
„On Ukraine’s Independence Day, I extend to the people of Ukraine the warmest congratulations and my heartfelt wishes for peace and security. In face of the ongoing Russian aggression against your country, I would like to reaffirm Romania’s support to Ukraine’s legitimate struggle for self-defence. We will also assist Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts and your path towards European integration,” the Romanian president said.
He highlighted the determination of the Ukrainians to defend their country, „a powerful example for the fight for freedom and democracy against an autocratic enemy.”
„We admire the courage and resilience demonstrated by both Ukrainians armed force and its civilian population in defencing your nation’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Your resolve serves as a powerful example for the fight for freedom and democracy against an autocratic enemy. On this special day, I wish our Ukrainian friends renewed strength and unwavering hope for a better future,” added Dan.
