Senate President Mircea Abrudean hopes that the second package of fiscal-budgetary measures is to be completed in the next period, underscoring that the most important aspect is the resumption of coalition meetings in their traditional format, with „divergent” points to be clarified.
„The most important thing is that coalition meetings have resumed in their usual format, let’s say, because during this pause, there was still dialogue among coalition leaders and party chairmen, which ultimately led to the resumption of the meetings. One was held yesterday, another is scheduled today, we hope to finalize all the measures, all the reforms in the second package and get it approved by the Government and then passed by Parliament as soon as possible. I think that is the good news and the most important thing. Certainly, there are still some points to clarify, there are still different views on certain aspects, in terms of local taxes, CASS [health insurance contribution], other matters. I don’t believe these are irreconcilable, I don’t think we have fundamentally opposing positions here. Through dialogue, I’m confident we’ll resolve them and we’ll have this package awaited by all Romanians and international institutions, the European Commission and our creditors, to be approved in the shortest time possible. I believe that, in the end, this is the essence,” Abrudean stated at B1 TV private television station.
According to him „certainly, all Romanians are waiting for the elimination of privileges, the regulation of special pensions, the removal of the pension-salary overlap.
Regarding the reform of state-owned companies, he argued that „there is no deadlock, the topic is under discussion.”
