May 2025 unemployment in Bucharest slightly down

The number of employees in the Bucharest at the end of May 2025 was standing at 1,111,357, down 159 (minus 0.02%) from the previous month, according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Year-on-year, the number of employees increased by 1.2% (plus 13,375 people).

The average gross salary at the end of May 2025 was RON 11,682 (RON 10,584 in May 2024), and the net salary was RON 6,989 (RON 6,428 in the same month of the previous year).

As of end-May 2025, 7,745 unemployed people were registered in Bucharest – minus 24.51% year-on-year, with the unemployment rate standing at 0.6%, down from 0.8% in May 2024.

As for state social security pensioners, at the end of the first quarter of 2025 their number was 464,198 people, with the average pension standing at RON 3,538.
