4,846 new SARS-CoV-2 cases reported in Romania between Sept 8-14, 16 deaths

A total of 4,846 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) were registered in Romania between September 8-14, down 5.6% compared with the previous week, the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) reported on Tuesday.

According to the data, 1,155 of the new cases were reinfections, detected in patients who tested positive more than 90 days after their first infection or a previous reinfection.

The INSP also reported 16 deaths among people infected with COVID-19, of which 14 had underlying health conditions.

During the same period, 435 RT-PCR tests and 14,000 rapid antigen tests were carried out, the positivity rate standing at 33.6%, down by 1% compared with the previous week. AGERPRES
