President of the National Agency of Fiscal Administration (ANAF) Nicusor Nica stated on Tuesday that former President Klaus Iohannis was asked to return the property that no longer belongs to him and was informed about the amount he owes from renting it out.
„The ANAF informed the respective persons of the amount they owe and, at the same time, requested the return of the respective property which no longer belongs to them. In the next period, it will be handed over and we will publicly announce the property’s recovery. Basically, in the respective case, there are two stages – the recovery of the assets which generated income and, after that, the recovery of the money obtained by him from renting. I believe that the first stage will be implemented soon, in respect to the second stage, I hope for any high-ranking dignitary of the state to pay the respective assets, so we don’t get to the point of an appeal process and have to start legal proceedings,” Nica explained at the Palace of Parliament.
Asked whether he received a response from Iohannis, he mentioned: „There are data I cannot publicly disclose. In the coming period, after we conclude the discussion on the handover of the assets with him, we will disclose the amounts owed. The amounts can only be paid in accordance with the legal provisions in force. I hope he will voluntarily return the property, we are talking about a former dignitary. There is a deadline which I cannot reveal. We have a response, but I cannot share the details of it.”
Adrian Nica stated that if the former president exceeds the deadline by which he must pay what he owes, he will be subject to enforced execution „like any Romanian.” AGERPRES
