Mihai Tudose: If Ilie Bolojan resigns, we will have another prime minister within 24 hours

PSD MEP Mihai Tudose declared on Tuesday that, if Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan wishes to resign, the country could have another prime minister within 24 hours.

„We did not go to the civil registry office with Bolojan by the hand. We have a protocol signed with the other parties in the coalition, with the PNL, with the USR, the UDMR and with the minorities. If Mr. Bolojan, I don’t know, carries out his threat or promise, I understand that yesterday (Monday – ed. n) he said that he was resigning… We did not ask for his resignation, we ask him to take into account some realities, some economic models and some easily predictable effects of some chaotic measures he is taking,” declared Mihai Tudose in Brussels, in a briefing for Romanian journalists.

„If he considers that he wants to leave, the PNL, according to protocol, must designate another prime minister (…). This is resolved within 24 hours. In the morning he resigned, at noon we have another prime minister, in the afternoon there are hearings, in the evening the oath is taken, the next day we have a different Romania,” explained Tudose, who is the chairman of the PSD National Council.

„The resignation is a unilateral act, we take note, he left, we don’t have to approve his resignation,” he added.

Asked about Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan’s visit to Brussels on Monday, during which he met with several European commissioners, Tudose replied tersely: „Sir, I haven’t seen it!”.

Asked if PSD can still work with the current prime minister at present, Tudose replied: „We are trying, but after the last joint experiences (…).”

Tudose gave the example of the discussion about capping price increases for basic food products, the continuation of which is supported by the PSD, and drew attention to the fact that his party has prepared a law in parliament to promote a measure in this regard in case the prime minister acts otherwise.

„If his reign had, I don’t know, the votes per individual, 51% in parliament, an absolute majority and a blank mandate forever, he would be free. But you are a prime minister representing a coalition and you have to take into account everyone in the coalition,” the former prime minister of Romania also stated.AGERPRES
