Iranian President accuses Joe Biden of „inciting chaos”

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi accused his American counterpart of „inciting chaos”, after Joe Biden’s support for the protests sparked in Iran against the death of Mahsa Amini a month ago, writes AFP, Agerpres reads.

Women „should be able to wear what they want to wear, for God’s sake,” Biden said on Friday. „Iran must end violence against its own citizens who are simply exercising their fundamental rights,” he added.

„The statements of the American president, who allows himself to incite chaos, terror and destruction in another country, remind us of the eternal words of the founder of the Islamic Republic (Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini), who called America the great Satan”, replied Raisi, according to a press release of the presidency.

Demonstrations have continued in Iran since the September 16 death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, an ethnic Kurd, three days after she was arrested in Tehran by morality police for allegedly violating the strict dress code imposed on women in islamic republic.

The United States announced on October 6 economic sanctions against seven high-ranking Iranian officials for their role in the repression of the demonstrations.
