The main façade of the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest will light up today between 18:30hrs and 24:00hrs to celebrate the European Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation (EODD).
The event is part of the European campaign to promote and raise awareness over organ donation. The lighting of the Palace of Parliament in green will take place simultaneously with other European capitals, underlining the importance of solidarity and the altruistic gesture of donation, according to Romania’s Chamber of Deputies.
According to European recommendations, public information campaigns have an essential role in raising awareness among the population and increasing the number of donors, reducing the refusal rate of families.
The Standing Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies approved on Wednesday a request from the National Transplantation Agency for the green lighting the Palace of Parliament building, a request supported by the Committee on Health and Family.
The document approved by the Chamber’s leadership shows that the National Transplantation Agency has started a campaign to promote and inform the population about organ donation, a campaign that includes, among others, this initiative.
„On the occasion of the ‘European Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation’, the National Transplantation Agency requests support for Romania to celebrate the event by lighting up the Palace of Parliament building in green on October 9, 2025, between 18:30 and 24:00,” the request reads. AGERPRES
