„The European Commission has selected 94 transport projects to which it will allocate €2.8 billion in EU grants under the Connecting Europe Facility.” • „I appreciate the emphasis on strategic and solidarity investments, such as improving rail connectivity and border crossing points between Romania and the Republic of Moldova,” said MEP Mihai Tudose.
The EU has decided to invest €2.8 billion in 94 transport projects in Member States to boost sustainable mobility in Europe.
„The European Commission has selected 94 transport projects to which it will allocate €2.8 billion in EU grants under the Connecting Europe Facility. This is an encouraging sign for connectivity, mobility, and competitiveness in the EU. I appreciate the emphasis on strategic and solidarity investments, such as improving rail connectivity and border crossing points between Romania and the Republic of Moldova,” said Mihai Tudose, Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Security and Defense.
„Romania has three projects on this winning list. These are the modernization of the 143 km Ploiești-Buzău-Focșani railway line, for which €45 million is now being allocated from the European budget. The rehabilitation of the Roman-Iași-Ungheni railway line will be supported with €33.8 million from the Connecting Europe Facility budget. There is also the construction of parking spaces near Ploiești, on the E60,” said Mihai Tudose.
In a question addressed to the European Commission, the PSD MEP drew attention to the fact that „with this selection of projects, 95% of the Connecting Europe Facility budget (€25.8 billion for the period 2021-2027) has already been allocated. Given the obvious interest in interconnection investments and their strategic nature, what is the Commission’s budget projection for the future multiannual financial framework in this regard?” reads the question addressed to the EU Executive with a request for a written answer.
