PSD MEP Mihai Tudose announces that young farmers will have a new financing opportunity starting in October, according to Obiectiv Vocea Brăilei. The non-repayable funds can be used for agricultural investments such as: the development of mixed farms combining crop and livestock farming, livestock farms, vegetable cultivation, including in greenhouses and solariums, beekeeping, and honey production.
„Support of up to €200,000 will be provided for the development of farms managed by young people,” explained the PSD MEP.
The non-reimbursable funds may be used for agricultural investments, such as: the development of mixed farms combining crop and livestock farming, livestock farms, vegetable cultivation, including in greenhouses and solariums, beekeeping, and honey production.
Farmers under the age of 45 will have access to a new funding program starting in October.
„Support of up to €200,000 will be provided for the development of farms managed by young people. Of the total value of the project, a maximum of 80% will be non-reimbursable European funds, and the applicant will have to contribute a minimum of 20%. Applications can be submitted from October to the Agency for Financing Rural Investments (AFIR),” said MEP Mihai Tudose.
The president of the PSD National Council said: „In previous years, we had a support program for young farmers, with about 5,000 beneficiaries, half of whom – I emphasize this point – returned from the diaspora. This time, an investment program will be launched to consolidate the farms of young farmers who have already settled, with the objectives of technological modernization and increased productivity.”
The program is aimed at young farmers who have completed the implementation of their business plan under sub-measure 6.1 of the 2014-2020 National Rural Development Program (PNDR) and farmers who have been established for no more than five years prior to submitting their application for support for this intervention, being aged up to 45 at the time of submitting their application for funding.
The non-reimbursable funds may be used for agricultural investments such as: the development of mixed farms combining crop and livestock farming, livestock farms, vegetable cultivation, including in greenhouses and solariums, beekeeping, and honey production. The funding may cover the purchase of agricultural machinery, irrigation equipment, or storage facilities.
After the application period opens in October, eligible farmers must submit a detailed farm development project to AFIR.
