Most Romanians will spend less or nothing at all on Black Friday this year

Published on

Four out of ten Romanians (41%) will reduce their budget allocated for „Black Friday 2025”, while two out of ten people will not buy anything on this occasion, show the results of a specialized survey, published on Friday.

According to data centralised by tbi bank, this year, only 15% of Romanians said they will spend more on „Black Friday” than they allocated in 2024.

On the other hand, 22% of the respondents say they will not buy anything on the Black Friday discount day, and almost 44% try to maintain it at the same level as last year, hoping to take advantage of discounts on the products they need.

A share of 41% of those surveyed claim that they will reduce their shopping budget on the occasion of the event with the most important discounts of the year, in many cases even more than half,

In context, over half (56%) stated that they will use money from personal savings for these purchases, and 26% that they will use only the money from their October salary. A percentage of 12% is relying on a financing solution to cover the costs.

Regarding the method of paying for the products to be purchased, paying in installments without interest represents the most attractive option for 47% of those who would like to buy something, but do not have all the money, while 37% say that they will make purchases only if they have the full amount required.

Also, over 44% of the respondents say that they are especially interested in home appliances, more than 40% that they will also follow the discounts on electronics, and 29.4% have their sights set on the range of IT products. Almost three quarters of Romanians (72%) claim that they want to buy products that they need personally or at home, while 32.3% would also like to buy Christmas gifts.

Regarding the way in which products are chosen, almost 41% say that they look at the lowest price for the products they need, 30% buy only if the price is at the desired level, and 22.2% make the purchase only if the discount is substantial.

The tbi bank survey analyzed the way in which Romanians want to make purchases on „Black Friday” and Christmas and was carried out in October 2025, at a national level, through the iVox platform, on a total sample of 1,011 internet users in Romania. More than half (53%) of the participants are male, and over 30% of the respondents work in the public sector. AGERPRES
