Police, supreme court prosecutors conducting 267 searches as part of Jupiter 4 operation

Police officers and prosecutors from the High Court of Cassation and Justice are carrying out, on Wednesday, 267 home searches and enforcing 68 warrants to bring in suspects across several counties in the country, as part of Jupiter 4 operation aimed at holding individuals involved in criminal activities accountable and protecting the community from illegal activities.

‘The operations are being conducted in criminal cases involving investigations into offences such as threats, violation of the regime governing weapons and ammunition, violation of waste regulations, smuggling, aggravated smuggling involving firearms, fraud, forgery of official documents, use of forged documents, practising a profession without authorisation, perjury, harassment, robbery, forgery of private documents, aggravated theft, tax evasion, embezzlement, fraudulent bankruptcy, production of excisable goods outside an authorised warehouse, counterfeiting, computer fraud, abuse of office, burning of any type of waste, unlawful tree felling and timber theft,’ reads a press release issued by the Romanian Police Inspectorate General (IGPR).

The actions aim to document the criminal activity of the suspects, recover damages and seize goods obtained through or held as a result of committing offences.

Those identified will be taken for questioning, and legal measures will be taken in each case. AGERPRES
