British journalist Charley Ottley, granted Romanian citizenship, to take oath of allegiance on Thursday

British journalist and film producer Charley Ottley has been granted Romanian citizenship and is due to take the oath of allegiance.

The National Authority for Citizenship (ANC) is organising on Thursday the formal ceremony for taking the oath of allegiance to Romania by several foreigners who have obtained Romanian citizenship.

‘The solemnity of the session (…) is enhanced by the diversity of the countries of origin of the new Romanian citizens, who come from nations such as the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Italy, Türkiye, Brazil, Jordan, Lebanon, Serbia and India, a fact which confirms Romania’s global vocation and the strength of its human and diplomatic ties,’ the ANC announced on Monday.

According to the same source, during the formal ceremony the oath will also be taken by individuals who have made outstanding contributions to promoting Romanian culture, civilisation and spirituality, such as Charley Ottley, who has played a remarkable role in promoting the country’s tourism, culture and natural heritage worldwide.

‘Through his exceptional documentaries ‘Wild Carpathia’ and ‘Flavours of Romania,’ he has masterfully captured the spirit, authenticity and picturesque beauty of Romania,’ said ANC acting president Claudia Tapardel. AGERPRES
