VAT and other taxes not to increase next year; condition is to build serious budget (Bolojan)

Value added tax or other taxes will not increase next year, the basic condition being „a serious budget”, which „should be based not on projections that have no foundation, but on reality”, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Thursday.

„VAT or other taxes will not increase next year, the basic condition is to build a serious budget, which should be based not on projections that have no foundation, but on reality. For this, no matter who is in government, no matter who is prime minister, you cannot run away from the enormous deficit we have”, Bolojan declared on Digi 24.

He added that in order to correct this deficit, expenses must be further reduced.

„We have no other option, only in this way can we have a balanced budget, to secure the funds for investments, both those that are on European funds, where we must ensure important co-financing, but also those from national budgets, both at the governmental level, for large infrastructure, highways, national roads and so on, but also for local authorities, because we have many construction sites throughout the country; some of them were started on European funds, some of them have lost funding and we must ensure important co-financing in the future”, explained the prime minister.

Ilie Bolojan said that „the approval of the budget is not just a bureaucratic act, it has some important effects on the economic stability of the country, in the administration and on its serious preparation depends what next year will look like”. AGERPRES
