Ciprian Ciucu, mayor of Bucharest Sector 6 and winner of the general mayor’s office in Sunday’s local by-election, thanked those who supported and believed in him, announcing that he will resume his work at Sector 6 Mayor’s Office until he takes the oath as Bucharest’s general mayor.

I thank National Liberal Party Chairman Ilie Bolojan, Vlad Gheorghe for his support, my colleagues from REPER, Dragos Pislaru, as well as Ludovic Orban. And my entire dedicated team. I will work tirelessly for the project of my life: putting Bucharest in order for the next 10 years. Together with you, my dear friends! Tomorrow morning I will be at the Sector 6 Mayor’s Office. I resume my work until I take the oath. You have fulfilled my most beautiful dream,” Ciucu wrote on Facebook on Sunday night.

After the count of 1,288 minutes out of a total of 1,289 polling stations (99.92%), Ciprian Ciucu garnered 211,471 votes, representing 36.17% of the ballots cast by Bucharest residents in Sunday’s election. AGERPRES
