The Ministry of Transport will spend all European money from the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme (POIM) 2014-2020, with 6-7 months earlier than the end of next year, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Sorin Grindeanu, declared on Sunday, write Agerpres.
„It is for the first time when, sometime next year, the Ministry of Transport, the one that I Shepard, will finish all European money, with 6-7 ahead of schedule. We are talking about POIM, the budgetary exercise for 2014-2020, which has that rule of N+3, so spent by the end of 2023. It is for the first time when not only all this money will be spend, but they will run out quicker than the end of next year,” Grindeanu specified, for private TV broadcaster Prima TV.
He highlighted that he requested the European Commission for the money allocated to Romania on other areas and that won’t be spend, to be transferred to the Ministry of Transport, specifying that he is optimistic regarding the approval of this request, which goes up to approximately 500 million euros.
„I would like to use the last months of 2023 and I sent a request to the European Commission, so that from the money allocated to Romania on other sectors, and which won’t be spent, because not all areas will be like the Ministry of Transport, I am referring here to spending European money, I wish to transfer from that sum around 500 million euros so that I can finance a few projects until the end of 2023. I sent the request, I am optimistic that it will be accepted, so that we can fully use this resource,” Grindeanu added.
